My Education
Formal
Throughout my formal education, I used every elective, project and internship to further my understanding of the international system and humanitarian affairs.
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with Honours
Granted by City University of London (United Kingdom) in 2016
Masters of International Law and International Relations
Granted by University of New South Wales (Australia) in 2011
Bachelor of Arts
Granted by Griffiths University (Australia) in 2009
Associate of Arts
Granted by Capilano University (Canada) in 2008
Continued Learning
My passions often taken me into unfamiliar territories. One reason that I’ve thrived in these diverse environments is that I recognize the need to keep learning.
A few examples are:
DPR (North) Korea
A lot of what I’ve learned about the DPRK came through direct engagement with Koreans themselves. However, I’ve also spend countless hours reading, engaging experts and studying to help put my experiences into context.
Sport for Peace and Development
In my early years in humanitarian and development circles, I never once heard mention of sport as a tool for achieving development and humanitarian objectices. I felt like something was missing, so I did some digging. Eventually I would find myself in Pyongyang, using hockey to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities.
Trade Policy
Before arriving at UNESCAP in Bangkok, I knew little about international trade law. By the time I’d left, I’d drafted core provisions of an international treaty signed by three heads of state.
Developmental Disabilities
When I was contracted to develop and implement the Champions for Inclusive Health Stakeholder Coalition, my most relevant skillset was stakeholder engagement. Now I’m regularly invited to
speak on the health of people with developmental disabilities at conferences and other public events.
